The Manager, Business Intelligence and Analytics will lead the delivery, and continuous improvement of Starboard’s enterprise BI platforms, with a primary focus on Azure Data Services and the Microsoft Power Platform. This role combines strategic vision with hands-on technical leadership, enabling a data-driven culture that improves business performance and customer insights.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Manager will partner across the organization to architect scalable BI solutions, advance data governance, and expand self-service analytics. This leader will also build and mentor a high-performing Analytics team, ensuring the enterprise evolves from descriptive reporting to predictive and prescriptive analytics.

What you’ll be doing:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Strategic BI Leadership:

  • Execute the BI strategy in alignment with company goals
  • Partner with leadership to establish KPIs and performance metrics
  • Oversee BI governance, ensuring data consistency, quality, and compliance

Power BI Development & Architecture:

  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of Power BI solutions
  • Architect efficient data models using Azure SQL Database, Synapse Analytics, and Data Lake
  • Standardize DAX logic, naming conventions, and dashboard UX to ensure scalable adoption

Data Integration & Data Continuity:

  • Ensure reliable data refresh, performance tuning, and row-level security (RLS)
  • Expand data availability by integrating external sources

Power Platform & Process Automation:

  • Leverage Power Automate to streamline workflows and automate recurring BI tasks
  • Integrate SharePoint Lists and Microsoft Forms as enterprise data capture tools feeding BI dashboards
  • Promote synergy across the Power Platform ecosystem to enhance data accessibility and usability

Advanced Analytics & Insights:  

  • Build advanced DAX measures, forecasting models, and scenario planning in Power BI
  • Integrate AI visuals, Power BI Copilot, Python, and R for predictive analytics
  • Translate complex analytics into actionable recommendations for senior leadership

Governance, Security & Compliance: 

  • Implement role-based security policies across Azure and Power BI environments
  • Monitor BI adoption and usage analytics, identifying training and adoption opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with corporate data privacy policies

Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management:  

  • Partner with business stakeholders to capture requirements and deliver BI solutions
  • Conduct training, workshops, and dashboard walkthroughs to strengthen adoption
  • Manage BI backlog and prioritize enhancements based on strategic impact

Team Leadership & Talent Development:

  • Lead, coach, and develop BI developers, analysts, and interns
  • Build organizational data literacy through training and enablement programs
  • Foster an agile, collaborative, and innovative-driven BI culture

What we’re looking for:

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s in computer science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field
  • 7+ years in business intelligence, data analytics, or related leadership roles
  • Hands-on experience with Azure + Power Platform ecosystem
  • Experience in retail, travel retail, or cruise industries preferred
  • Certifications in Power BI, Azure Data Engineer, or Power Platform highly desirable

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven expertise in Power BI (data modeling, DAX, RLS, performance tuning)
  • Strong knowledge of Azure Data Services (Azure SQL Database, Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, Data Lake)
  • Hands-on experience with the Power Platform: Power Automate, SharePoint Lists, Microsoft Forms
  • Strong SQL development and data modeling skills
  • Ability to integrate data across multiple sources
  • Strong communication skills for both technical and executive audiences
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities
  • Excellent problem-solving, prioritization, and project management skills

Travel Requirements:

  • 10% or less travel required

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Some flexibility in hours is permitted, employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday and must work 30 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

 

Physical Demands:
Office environment with frequent sitting, walking and standing, occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling use of office machinery. This position requires the ability to
occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Oral and auditory enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication automated devise such as the telephone.
