The Senior Accountant is responsible for the preparation, analysis, and documentation of key revenue-related accounting processes, including commission calculations, cruise line sales reporting, and revenue-sharing payments. This role serves as the primary preparer of critical financial deliverables, enabling management review and strengthening segregation of duties within the accounting function. The position operates in a partially manual, multi-system environment and supports process standardization and collaboration with the BI team.

What you’ll be doing:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES &  RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Revenue, Commissions & Partner Reporting:

  • Prepare commission files for Ship Insiders
  • Validate and reconcile commission calculations
  • Prepare sales reports for Cruise Lines and partners
  • Calculate revenue-sharing amounts
  • Coordinate payments with Accounts Payable
  • Investigate discrepancies
  • Maintain review-ready documentation

General Ledger & Close Support:

  • Assist with monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and review journal entries
  • Perform account reconciliations and variance analyses
  • Ensure all work is accurate, timely and in compliance with GAAP
  • Own assigned balance sheet reconciliations, including preparation and review
  • Investigate and resolve reconciling items on a timely basis
  • Support initiatives to enhance reconciliation quality and standardization
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and audit requirements

Ad Hoc & Analysis:

  • Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis
  • Troubleshoot data and reporting issues
  • Support projects and initiatives
  • Recommend solutions to improve processes
  • Analyze and review financial information for accuracy

Controls, Systems & Process Support:

  • Ensure work is audit-ready and compliant with controls
  • Support segregation of duties structure
  • Document workflows and identify inefficiencies
  • Collaborate with BI team on reporting improvements
  • Validate system and BI-generated data
  • Escalate risks or discrepancies 

 Vendor Maintenance & Compliance:

  • Maintain vendor records as needed
  • Validate vendor documentation and banking details
  • Assist with due diligence
  • Maintain audit-ready files

What we’re looking for:

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education:

  • 3 to 5 Years of experience in Accounting
  • Bachelor’s Degree

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Professionalism and ability to adapt to diversity
  • Curious mindset that is constantly identifying ways to improve existing month-end close processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail Oriented
  • Ability to meet deadlines as requested and to follow-through on assigned tasks with minimal supervision
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) and Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision), including exposure to system integrations, data mapping, or financial system transitions, is a strong plus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Some flexibility in hours is permitted, employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday and must work 30 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

 

Physical Demands:
Office environment with frequent sitting, walking and standing, occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling use of office machinery. This position requires the ability to
occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Oral and auditory enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication automated devise such as the telephone.
